RESEARCH INTERESTS
X-ray microscopy and microfabrication laboratory consists of a beamline (BL07W) and a microfabrication laboratory at NSRL. The research direction mainly focuses on the development of novel methodology for nanoscale imaging and microfabrication techniques as well as their applications.
The synchrotron based full-field transmission soft X-ray microscope on beamline BL07W at NSRL is capable of 2D imaging and tomography. The energy range is 200~600eV (can be extended to 2500eV), suitable for imaging the biological samples, and also for absorption contrast imaging of other materials. The FOV is 12μm and the spatial resolution is better than 30nm. The corresponding laboratory equipment, such as cell processing room, cryo-sample preparing system, has also been provided. Meanwhile, an offline x-ray imaging system has also been constructed with the spatial resolution better than 50nm. The energy range of X-ray can be modulated to 7~11KeV, which is suitable for spectroscopic imaging as well as phase contrast imaging. The 3D elemental mapping is accomplished via acquisition of tomography above and below the X-ray absorption edge and in situ and operando imaging of functional materials can be accomplished with custom-designed sample cells.
The microfabrication laboratory has mainly focused on micro-fabrication techniques such as the LIGA/UV-LIGA at NSRL. The laboratory constructed 50 square meters of grade 100 clean room (the clean laboratory) and 120 square meters of grade 1000 wet clean room. It has 10 sets of process equipment, such as the electron beam lithography, UV-lithography, ion beam etching, RIE and electroplating. The laboratory mainly does researches on LIGA, MEMS, microfluidic system and large area of diffractive optical elements.
